For the last ten months - nothing. Prior to that about anything would keep me awake. Just thinking and worrying some. Then I decided to slow down, let some projects sit, not argue, and just be more laid back. Result? I fall asleep within fifteen minutes and if something wakes me I go right back to sleep, I don't set an alarm anymore yet I still wake up when I need to.

Re: 5 Things That Keep Me Awake At Night

Ben, you want to know what keeps me awake at night?
Kids -no. After having five start up companies (some huge successes others miserable failures), I can honestly tell you that there is no better day than the day you realize you can go to lunch or take a day off and everything is running smoothly and money is flowing in the door.

Your staff are what differentiates you from being a manager or a supervisor (baby sitter).

Re: 5 Things That Keep Me Awake At Night

Hi Ben,

Totally understand. One person got completely hung up for over a week on whether they should open a PO Box first or file the papers for their LLC first.

My advice to him was to accept that you will make mistakes, but most mistakes are better than wasting too much time trying not to make any mistakes. Regular exercise in some form not only keeps you healthy, but also gives you energy, which you can then apply back to your business.

My recommendation: bicycle riding or swimming, both great aerobic activities

Re: 5 Things That Keep Me Awake At Night

My husband snoring keeps me up!

Re: 5 Things That Keep Me Awake At Night

My laptop keeps me awake at night. It worked like a charm. My guess is it is similar to the motion and sound combo that makes kids fall asleep when you drive around in a car. But they love to have you hug them and to hear your voice even better. So try a rocking chair, and practice that singing so you don't drive your wife crazy, ha ha. :)

Re: 5 Things That Keep Me Awake At Night

Those are some cute kids!

I feel your startup pains. Big ones....

Also, sometimes, if I watch a movie, TV Series or read book half way and go to sleep, I'll keep thinking about what might happen. That is of course if its really good!

Re: 5 Things That Keep Me Awake At Night

Kids are still #1 for me....and my kids are grown. It seems that it doesn't matter how old they get, their problems still cause you worries.

The 2nd for me is always business...and marketing is the #1 question.
